Yes this is a concern as the post office continues to look at reducing delivery times.

As of now I am re-contacting clients re paying by ACH/EFT/Wires . I have used the check by fax in the past for those delinquent clients. .

It appears more companies are moving their ap towards ACH trend and always inquire with new customers if they have the option.

My company accepts ACH and wire payments. All banks do charge a fee. Depending if they are set up to do ACH or wire payments. If they aren't set up with their bank, then the fee is a bit more. Several of my customers have changed over to paying by ACH instead of mailing checks just in the last 4 months. The ones that I have spoken to would pay the fee and get the money to us right away than having to cut the check and mail it. It has been taking twice the time by snail mail to get the checks.....sometimes up to 2 weeks from California to Washington. We will offer the customers who pay really late, to pay by ACH -- half the time they are willing to pay so that they aren't switched to COD terms. In the last few months, I have noticed that our numbers aren't as bad since accepting ACH payments. It saves time and money in the long run.

My company uses Check by Fax, or CHAX, for a large number of our payments. Essentially, the customer signs an authorization form that allows us to use a fax copy of their check as an electronic item, faxes over the authorization and the signed check, and files their original. We create a check with MICR ink, run it through a horseshoe reader on site, and we're pretty much done.

On the last two or three days of the month, we get fairly substantial payments via CHAX, pushing our numbers up for EOM, so we're already used to cutting down on mail delays. I think the software company that manufactures Check by Fax is Office Pro

1. Which software publishers provide ways of sending large volumes of invoices other than through the US Mail?
2. Are there changes in Electronic Funds Transfer that make it more attractive for smaller companies to use than the US Mail?

I have never used and would never use a paid placement service.... or at least one that would not guarantee me a full refund of the fee paid if I did not receive an offer or did not accept a position that they identified for me.

By the way, I am under no illusion that any of these companies would ever offer me a refund.

Robert Half & Associates - I'm not sure if they use 3rd parties or what, but I have been contacted periodically by their headhunters. In Northern CA contacted by Alijon (916) 923-5555 they may be able to tell you if there is a specific unit in Southern CA

I've never come across a paid placement service for anything above fairly low-level stuff, and not in the past few years. Between 2003 and 2008, I was laid off *three* times due to the economy, and was exploring all avenues. This was one source that I couldn't find any information on, and I was definitely ready to use *any* avenue that was a possibility.

Does anyone have a "paid" placement service they can recommend for the credit & Collection arena? I have posted for Credit Jobs Today however have not had any luck in my area (Southern California, specifically San Diego and Orange Counties). I have been in the "Credit world" since 1982, have my CCE and have excellent experience and skill set, yet finding a position seems next to impossible in this economic climate.

I've never used a "paid" placement service. A few of the recruiters I've worked with seem somewhat lacking in the follow up department. Granted those have not been a paid placement situation however if I'm going to go down that road, I would greatly appreciate some feedback from anyone who could make a recommendation.

Thanks much to the community!

That would depend upon the terms contained within the LC. Depending on the country you are selling to and other conditions of sale, you might have it open for six months or a year, then renegotiate, or have it running in perpetuity. The important thing is that, if the revolving LC has a date of expiry, that no sales be made or in transit at the time the LC expires unless there is an agreement already in place to extend it.

Dina Amadril - another thought is in My Account it ould be nice to pull a report by ABC on all of the RFI's you have responded to as well as pull a report just for your RFI's that you have requested. It is very cumbersome the way that it is right not.

DMarc - We use one even better we state that all of our accounts are cleared on our on line credit group and that if they would like to audit the monthly meeting to call me and I will get them invited. CMA is real good at allowing one visit before purchasing a membership. If they are a member of another NACM affiliate than it is a minimal cost to get on the web.

Dina,
Perhaps as you ask the demographic questions, one of the options could be whether they want to participate in RFI's, if they chose no then they wouldn't be able to request info. Unfortunately more & more in the credit community both inside and outside CMA find reasons not to share info. The primary ones seem to be:

1. I'm too busy
2. The attorney said I shouldn't (fear)
3. Sales/management don't want competition (fear)
4. I pay to get info, why should I give it to you free (I forgot what it feels like)

As long as these attitudes are allowed to prevail, you will have some takers and more people become unwilling to share info. I started compiling a list of companies that won't share info and when they request info from me I write "I'm sorry we are not willing to share information with companies who will not reciprocate"
