Michael Dennis on "Resume Assistance Offered"

In my experience, the quality of resumes for credit professionals needs improvement. For example, resumes I have reviewed often focus on job duties rather than on accomplishments. The resumes I see are often far too long and provide far too much detail.

For a couple of years, I have worked with a not-for-profit organization, the FENG, reviewing and editing or commenting on members resumes. I learned about what to look for in resumes after spending seven years managing the HR function for a previous employer. [No, I didn't work in HR --- I managed the HR department]

Here is the bottom line: If you send me your resume, I will edit it and/or recommend changes at no charge --- and with no obligation. This process will be completely confidential.

Call me if you have questions at 949 584 9685, otherwise email your resume to me at: mcdennis13@yahoo.com

Please tell us what you think of the new look.

New legislation has been passed in Oregon, protecting homeowners from liens filed by unlicensed contractors performing improvements on their property. Further, those who provide materials, equipment, or labor to an unlicensed contractor are also prohibited from filing a lien. The new law also eliminates the ability of a purchaser of residential property to waive protection against a claim of lien. The act becomes effective January 1, 2011.

Hello Everyone,

CMA will be keeping the anscers Community online for quite a while. There is awesome content there for anyone who want to scroll through past discussions. Here is the link: http://community.anscers.com/community/ultimatebb.cgi

In the next few weeks we will turn off the ability to post in the previous Community. You will still be able to review the posts for quite a while.

The new community (this one) has a single sign on from anscers.com when you click the community link on anscers.com. This makes it easier for all CMA members and anscers users to start or join discussions.

Update 11/21/09 - The link is now down since we upgraded our servers.

Two News Stories in 72 hours

An editorial Mike Mitchell co-wrote with financial strategist Richard Hastings, CCE appears in the current edition of the Los Angeles Business Journal. The editorial urges elected officials and policy makers in Sacramento and Washington to focus on restoring trade credit as part of their efforts to revive the California and National economies.
http://creditmanagementassociation.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/Los-Angeles-Business-Journal-OpEd-072009.pdf

This past Friday, Mike was invited to join the KNX Business Hour with Frank Mottek (KNX AM 1070 News Radio in Los Angeles) to offer views on how CMA's member trade creditors were being affected by current economic policy and how many companies would be affected by a potential CIT bankruptcy or failure.

The single sign on from anscers to the community is not working at this time. The problems comes from software updates to the community and main CMA site that I will be fixing tonight.

In the meantime you should be able to sign on to the community using your email address and password from the anscers.com system.
